If it helps any: The only thign that has changed between today and when my controller was working is that my laptop updated Windows 10 and I installed a new game (Tomb Raider 2013). If you are like me and use different controllers to play games on Steam, such as the Dual Shock 4 from Sony (don’t forget you can use it on Linux using the excellent ds4drv driver), you will find that sometimes games launched from Steam do not recognize the controller even though it’s mapped like a regular XInput controller (ds4drv allows such a mode). None of them work with the controller, yet inside Steam Big Picture it functions flawlessly.Īny help would be greatly appreciated! Also, when I open up my 'Usb Game Controllers' menu and look at my game controller all the joysticks and buttons respond perfectly. But now today when I try to run Tomb Raider, Spelunky, Dark Souls, Titan Souls, etc. My wired Xbox360 controller (Xinput, not Direct) works perfectly fine in Steam Big Picture Mode. I don't think I've ever actually gotten a game to work with both the Steam Controller and In-Home Streaming simultaneously, though. I was able to play Titan Souls, Spelunky, and even Dark Souls with it without any problem. Before the steam controller arrived, I enjoyed playing games on my laptop, using the in-home streaming function from my desktop, and an Xbox 360 controller connected to the server PC. Seems as if Steam cant see the controller, even though its clearly connected. But it stays the same when Steam is running. When I plug it in to my computer directly with the USB cable, it sort of works - I get the basic desktop mode bindings, as when Steam is not running.
What's worse is that 2 days ago this controller was working fine. When I use my Steam controller wirelessly it works ok.

In my device manager, all the drivers are up to date and I don't have any other game controller drivers installed that could be interfering with my Xbox controller's input. Forgot to mention, he is using a wired PowerA Xbox controller. We also tried changing the controller with no luck. Make sure all other controllers are disabled. Also, when I open up my "Usb Game Controllers" menu and look at my game controller all the joysticks and buttons respond perfectly. Open steam in big picture mode, then launch the game with your controller. My wired Xbox360 controller (Xinput, not Direct) works perfectly fine in Steam Big Picture Mode.
